ABS-CBN artist Mark Bautista was playing the piano at the Crowne Plaza Port Moresby ballroom when suddenly an elderly male Caucasian repeatedly knocked against the unknowing baby grand and scolded the pop singer for “turning the hotel into a zoo” then topped it with a generous serving of profanities.

The bigot, perhaps stirred from his fart-y and saliva drenched slumber was referring to the mini-concert starring said artist the Filipino Association organized the night before the incident.

I understand that an acquired taste for bagoong comes with appreciating such shows but white ass septuagenarian has certainly gone crackers. I’m certain that the show is no safari park at least nothing like the bigot’s baboon-ish arrogance.

White ass should have gone banging at the manager’s desk since it was the management who rented out the facilities to the Filipino community for the concert/ show instead he opted to vent his anger at Mark whose ethnicity isn’t of his favor.

I’m doubly certain that if Mark was white rude grandpa would grant forbearance even if noise from the concert razed Crowne Plaza to the ground.

If he wanted peaceful sleep he should have demanded his money back and booked a room at Hotel Hell and rested there in peace. I would have gladly sent him candles, prayers and wreaths.

I’m no fan of Mark. But between mediocre talent and racist pigs, I’d go for Mark anytime.

tsk. tsk.

racial discrimination is everywhere. last night i was able to watch an episode of grey's anatomy related on the issue...

a white injured doctor won't let a black doctor treat him... the black doctor ordered a white jew to take over.

the white injured doctor happened to be a nazi! ahehehe!

thanks for voting mate :)

Maybe he was just too loud? A little too loud perhaps even in a sanctioned arena as a ballroom. Oh, he wasn't singing? How can you be too loud with a piano?

Maybe the old guy was through hell and high water trying to catch what little Zs he can accommodate before a busy morning? Who knows what might have caused his trigger to snap, but everybody loves a scandal all the same.

The discrimination angle will help him boost his popularity points a bit, but he awfully looks the part.

That sucks. I know how it is to experience racism myself being a minority here in the US. Cracks me up when I leave the supermarket and the sun has gone down and I'm walking to my car and it's always the white people who give you the eye, briskly walk to their car, and lock it. Haha. What's up with that?

i remember the first time i experienced racial discrimination. after that experience, i started to fight back.

sometimes, we are treated as second class citizens because we allow these rednecks to treat us as such.

being in a call center, I do encounter a number of racist american--rednecks usually, asking for an american agent, whatnot...

as per policy, we should convince the customer that we could help them and that we are as well trained as those american counter part...

But our supervisor understand if we feel not helping such customers...

I once told a customer nothing wanting to talk to me because i am a filipino and not american... "Neither do i want to talk to you..."

Racist is such a strong word. How is a violent act become racist? Maybe it was something he said about Mark being Asian? If I did that while Britney Spears was fiddling her violin, I wouldn't be labeled as racist, right?

But of course, given a choice between Britney and violence, I go for Britney anytime.

i wonder how some filipinos can be so, ughh, blinded by hegemony.

but then again, dun lang ang arok ng isip nila.

what happened here is a clear case of racial slur. if one is not maddened by this, s/he does not deserve to be a filipino. tae!

Those white people really act like they own everything and sad as it may be, my relatives who moved to the states and to europe are also acting as if we who opted to stay behind are beneath them. The upside is, this is all related to economics and we all know what's on the United States's financial report.

Since my first comment was so nerdy, I just want to share a funny story. I was young then and I was busy getting wasted by the bar when this white hunk tried hitting on me. No, he didn't try to pay me for sex; I would have had the bouncer give him a good beating for that, which would have been less exciting. It was actually more irritating than that. His twang didnt sound European or Australian or New Yorker, or Valley, even. My guess is that he was from Oklahoma or somehwere like that - a place more boring than any office pantry. Anyway, he told me that I spoke English with a weird accent. I told him "You know what, around here, you're the one with the weird accent." I stood up and left the martini he bought for me. Sayang cute pa naman si gago. Yun lang.

hehehehe

i honestly think racists are not well-educated and have minds closed to life and the world. i don't mean to sound mean but when they go discriminating others, thinking their color makes them better, they look ignorant.
